Food for Thoughts #1

Today, I thought to share something more of personal.
Probably need a break from things I am doing.
We all don't need to blog about beauty and events everyday, do we?

Yes, we all know a lot of people in this world, but how much exactly do you know about them?
Hopefully, by the end of this post, you will feel,
"Hey, Looks like I am not the only one like this in this world"
"This girl's thoughts are interesting"

It would definitely make me happy if you find my blog is interesting and worthy to follow.

Better still if we all learn something from each other, then we get to make everyday's life a little bit more meaningful :)

1. My life have always been jar full of blessing candies. Not saying that it is without any challenges, but I have always made it through safe and sound. I am thankful that with fevers during childhood, I am always in good hands and never went into epilepsy. Despite my misfortune of falling down the staircase at age 3, I manage to keep my right leg even when all odds were against my favor. (Many surgeons said the fracture cause an infection to the bone, which may result in amputation). With my family's perseverance and love, that I am able to walk today. What I am trying to say is look at the positive aspect at every downfall you've had. Some people may have it worse off but they can still live in positive thoughts.

2. Humans are unique in every ways, so we all must learn to respect that. Gays, Lesbians and even Bisexual are like races to me. Like Muslim, Buddhist, Christians, etc.. Fair skin, dark, duku langsat skin... As long we do no harm and help others with sincere hearts, does it even matter what the others preach? You don't have to practice what is against your belief but keep an open heart. Just because I don't eat beef, doesn't mean I have to dislike everyone who eats them. After all, we are all humans living on the same planet.

3. Live life the way you wanted in moderation. You want to go on a trip, DO IT. It doesn't have to be luxurious like Paris and Japan. At least, you've been to somewhere. If it's your aim in life, then save money for it. Since the world keeps changing and it wasn't like last time, where cancer and disaster is rare, do things with no regrets. Spend time with our loved ones. Live life like tomorrow is our last.

4. I know some may think this is easier said than done. What is meant for work is should remain at work. Don't bring them home. If you find yourself staying back in office most of the time, this isn't hard work. That is poor time management. Your children and family do not deserve the lack of social time and love from someone they look upon. After all, when something bad happens to you, it's your family who will stay by your side. Not your work or office.

5. Try to make at least one person smile everyday. You may be the only person who lift their hearts the entire day. Communicate and engage. Sometimes, it's good to step out of our comfort zone and mingle around. After all, it's going to be Christmas soon :)

I am going to spend my Christmas surrounded by people I love.
How about you?

MAYBELLINE Rocket Volum' Express Mascara [REVIEW]

The past weeks have been nothing but hectic.
I supposed that this is one of the things in life you have to face when you have a full time job.
Not exactly easy when there are only two of you and one is away on holiday.
Oh well, at least I am able to feed my family and tummy :)

I have been posting on my Instalgram for ages, hints on my all time favorite mascara.

Kind sister got me this mascara when they were having sales in early October.
It has been on my wishing list for so long because my old mascara at that time has started to dry up.
You know the funny things mascaras do when they are about to retire > <

MAYBELLINE Volum' Express Rocket Mascara comes in an unique Supersonic Brush with formula that promises fast glide. The mascara wand has micro bristles which volumize our eyelash up to 8 times and the fast glide formula allows smooth, zero clumps application.

*Closer view*

Disclaimer: This image is from Maybelline Official website
*I didn't wash my mascara wand, so I don't know if it looks like that in actual*

Most importantly, it is FREAKING WATERPROOF!
*No more scary eyes on Woman's Night Out!*
MAYBELLINE Volum' Express Rocket Mascara is easily removed with soap and water.
Dear Contact lens users, please rest assured. This babe is ophthalmologist approved!
Explosive Volume in Rocket Time!

I like MAYBELLINE Volum' Express Rocket Mascara mainly because of it brings out my lashes with no clumping! You can see it really coats every lashes. Plus it's waterproof!
(Remember, I tear very easily) Although, my eyelashes does not appear thicker in volume with application, (probably due to absence micro fibers and my originally fine and sparse eyelashes), I can see my eyelash is remarkably longer and enhanced. Suitable for everyday casual use. What I like about this mascara is that my eyes look as if it still has mascara on, even after removal the day before (Commented by my colleagues) :D I would definitely purchase this MAYBELLINE Volum' Express Rocket Mascara again in future.

Rating: 4/5

You can get this gorgeous mascara at any personal care stores near you.
Retail price: RM 39.90

It has been a very VERY busy week.
With sweet boyfie birthday, studies, work and TWO major record setting events to jiggle in one week, makes me wish to have extra hours around the clock and extra pairs of hands and feet.
Err...maybe not the extra limbs, that would be absolutely hideous ><

So, what are the major events I am talking about?

29th Nov 2014: Burst Asia 2014
30th Nov 2014: The Maze Challenge Asia 2014
Boyfie birthday

One thing at a time. One event review a day :)

Thanks to my boyfie for sponsoring me to this event. Muaks muaks* :D

The BURST ASIA 2014 is an event to set the Malaysia Book of Records for the largest water balloon fight in Malaysia with a total estimation of 10,000 participants and 200,000 balloons.
Do the math and it should be 20 water balloons per head count? :)
This event also serve to create awareness, as well as raise funds for the Malaysia Aids Foundation. Hence, the change of date in the event to meet the International World Aids Day Celebration which falls on the 1st December 2014.

This event is open to age 16 years and above for safety reasons. Those under 18 would need to have parental consent (which I think is a good move)

The Rules
1. Enter with your tickets or else your access will be denied.
2. No PETS allowed.
(I understand sometimes you want your loving woofs and miaws to have a
little more excitement in life)
3. No Water Guns or water playing devices allowed.

It was raining when we arrived at the Dataran Petaling Jaya (opposite Amcorp Mall). Personally, I felt it was ironic to get wet before the water balloon fight event starts. Oh well.

*Getting soaked before the event starts*

We had to load some water balloons ourselves because 20 water balloons per person is just not enough! When you are having fun, things tend to get insufficient, don't they? :) I learnt something in the process because I have never filled a water balloon before, nor did I throw one.
*You must be thinking what kind of childhood life have I been living><*

*Our stash of water balloons. <3*
Luckily we were smart to bring an extra plastic bag to hold them in. Those who didn't could only hold one in each hand or carry them in their T-shirts XD

RED FM was there to keep the atmosphere going and there were lots of giveaway!
There were fun interactions and game sessions. The only thing I manage to get from them was a Spritzer's Tinge mineral water. Better than nothing I supposed. At least I get to quench some thirst :d

*Say Hi!*
Sorry for the super blur image. Was super excited to meet these guys!

I saw a man in wheelchair who came to support the event, even though it was drizzling.
Salute his spirit!

Hot DJ with sizzling singer working in hand to keep us entertained.
I bet a lot of the girls and guys agree that they did a great job!

*WooHoo! Rock the night away!*

*One very blur image I took in hurry with Mr Boyfie ><*

Towards end of the event, participants were given the opportunity to take selfies at the photo booths as memories of the event.

*We are pros in lame poses XD*
(God knows why Mr Boyfie decided to last minute hide behind my back in the last picture)

Overall, I had a great time. It does not matter if the weather was being challenging, getting muddy and all. Most importantly was spending time with the person I loved and everything would be fun. The only dissapointment I had was NOT being hit by a SINGLE random water balloon. Come on man! D8 This is supposed to be a water balloon fight, right? Such luck.
Even the only water balloon I threw at Mr Boyfie decided to bounce off his neck and pop on the ground D<
The goodies bags could only be collected post event due to some unexpected circumstances that delayed the products arrival. Cannot blame them.
Organizing events is not the easiest thing to do.
At least, we had our fun and at the same time, helping others :)

I was amused by random rubber in packets they were distributing at the event. If you know what I mean *wink* But being educated and all, this event is supposed to create awareness in HIVs and AIDs, as well as in conjunction of International World Aids Day Celebration. I know they do not mean to encourage certain acts but merely to promote safe actions, seeing the alarming rise in statistics. We are all adults. No one can stop you if you intend to commit actions by human instinct, but at least, they did something right to protect you. No use crying over spilled milk. Some individuals used their creativity to make balloons out of them. XD
No puns intended.

So, I hope you had fun reading.
Stay tune for my next blog update!

MAYBELLINE Eye Studio HyperSharp Liner [REVIEW]

I am a HUGEHUGEHUGE fan of eyeliners!
As a matter in fact, the first beauty product I purchased was a liquid eyeliner but I don't think they have it at Watsons anymore.

List of reasons why I fancy drawing my eyes:-
1. Typical monolid of the Chinese genes makes me look half asleep
*I still cannot understand why am I the only child in the family with single eyelid*

2. Fancy my idol from You're Beautiful, who loves drawing his eyes <3
JANG GUEN SUK oppa!~*His eyes are so mesmerizing and His smile makes me melt*

3. I used to think it's cool to draw my lower eyelids UNTIL I discovered I have watery eyes.
*It really happened to me, the bus driver must have thought I broke up or something*

I got my MAYBELLINE Eye Studio HyperSharp Liner during the Merdeka Guardian sales. They were selling it for RM7 at that time! So here it is.

It has a 0.05mm fine tip for precise eyelining and best of all, It's WATERPROOF
Available in BLACK colour only.

Waterproof or not~*

They claim it is easy to remove with plain soap and water.
So, I want to see how far is the truth.
*I used Johnson&Johnson Baby Shampoo as it's more practical. I mean, does anyone out here who use dishwasher soap to remove their makeup off their face @@

  1. REALLY Waterproof
  2. It is so precise that you can draw ANYTHING you want on your eyelid :)
  3. Removable with soap and water.
  4. One eyeliner can last you very long :)
  5. Easy to bring around
  1. The black wasn't black enough for me. When drawing on an eyeshadow base eyelid, the eyeliner tend to get absorbed, so it's less obvious. However, this can be easily solved by adding a few more layers.
  2. (TIPS) I supposed if you just draw on plain eyelid without any eyeshadow on, it can look quite natural. Good for everyday basic beauty routine.
  3. Although it is removable with soap and water, I wouldn't say it is without some rubs (which can long term contribute to wrinkles). Better stick to MAYBELLINE Makeup Remover :)
  4. It lasted about 3 hours before the need to re-touch up.

I still prefer this Maybelline HyperSharp Liner over the gel type as it's easier to apply and does not dry out. It's precision allows creativity to flow :) Convenient to bring out for touch up.

*Forgive me if it's not so nice, just illustrating you can get creative with no limit :)*

Calling in Sick Day

Sorry guys.
These days I am down with some sniffies and cough, so may be quiet for a little while.
While lying in my sick bed feeling guilty of being inactive,
I just realized being a Maybelline user but yet, I have not posted a thing on them.
*further guilt bitten*

Please take good care of yourself as these day's weather is so unpredictable.

Stay tune to have a peep on what's hidden in my pouch bag

WHATT? GST on Malaysian Bloggers?!

Ok, I may be over exaggerated but this is important.
With next year's GST hot on heels, how will it impact all of us as bloggers?

If you do not know what is GST, it stands for Goods and Services Tax;
also known as Value Added Tax (VAT), part of Malaysian Budget 2015.
This implementation is to substitute our current Sales and Service Tax (SST)
Due to take off on the 1st of April 2015, GST will weight 6% from our everyday goods consumption and services as compared to our current Sales Tax (10% on manufacturers and wholesaler aka importer) and Service Tax aka Government Service Tax (6% tax on service providers and our annual-credit-card-fee of RM50 / RM25 for supplementary credit card holders)

We don't feel the influence of the Sales Tax because they only affect manufacturers and importers with yearly minimal revenue of RM100,000.
As for the Service Tax, unless you have been staying under your house roof for the past years of your life and not used ANY services from our daily Starbucks coffee, restaurants selling dim sums, etc,
like it or not, we all have been doing our good citizen role and paid this un-exemptable tax.

Good to know Info*

There are certain basic goods and services that are exempted from GST. That includes basic foods, residential accommodation, education, health services, public transportation, domestic consumption of water and electricity (up to 200kwH, which is about RM50?) as well as RON 95, Diesel and LPG fuel (Thank Goodness!)

OK. Back to main topic.

"How will it impact on Malaysian Bloggers?"
"If I blog on leisure, am I subject to GST as well?"

To be frank, I am concern about this as well.

It is said that any sort of businesses that earns less than RM500,000 annually are excepted from GST registry, thus not required to pay or collect GST from their consumers.
(Estimation of preceding sales for the next 12 months)
However, NGOs, if they are involved indirectly in any business activity of making taxable supplies, they will be subjected to GST.

"Are Bloggers considered as NGOs?"
I don't think so. Bloggers are individuals.
We don't WORK for an organization (Unless we are paid by a specific company to work for them but I am not so sure about how we should classify that).
Though, we all may belong to certain blogger groups.

In my opinion, I think bloggers should not be charged GST as blogging is one way we express or thoughts on products. We don't pay tax for writing customer feedback, don't we?

I read this topic somewhere on the net and it got me thinking. If GST is on us as bloggers, just imagine how many bloggers will drop out from writing blogs. It will be horrifying.

It would be good to hear some thoughts on this issue.

KJI&CO Emergency Lash RX Part1 [REVIEW]

Eyelashes are like curtains to our house window.
Curtains protect us from strong glare of the sun and decorates our house.
So is our lashes.
They protect our eyes from harmful elements around us and enhance our beauty.
But with the stress that we are facing in this century, loss or sparse of hair has been an emerging issue. First impression does plays a major role in our society.
I know you can always wear fake eyelashes, like how you wear wigs or hats to hide our weakness but I supposed that only applicable to girls. (Sorry guys)

Probably it relates to my hormonal issue or god-knows-whatever stress I am having, my precious eyelashes are growing sparse, not to mention they fall quite alot recently.
Lash falling is supposed to be a normal process until it gets out of hand.

These days I have been trying Kji & Co.'s Emergency Lash Rx (stands for Treatment) to solve my issue (hopefully just in time for Christmas *fingers crossed*)

Kji & Co.'s Emergency Lash Rx is actually an cosmeceutical eyelash serum, that contains potent lash enhancing factor and fortified with strengthening botanicals. Brown Seaweed Extract (from the Pelvetia Canaliculata species) is a glyco protein and acts as a natural restructing agent for hair fibres. It acts by increasing shine, volume, manageability, as well as protects fibre from harsh environmental pollutants.

Pelvetia Canaliculata.  Image from Wikipedia

Kji & Co.'s Emergency Lash Rx does not contain salt (which can harm our hair)
Besides that, Digitata Laminaria plus Biotin is also used to reactivate hair's microcirculation, and stimulates cell metabolism. Combination of these two ingredience has been credited in delay of hair loss and flavor re-growth.

Digitata Laminaria: Image from Wikipedia

You can now rest assured that they are of natural ingredients.

Their intention is simple.
To Protect and Stimulate longer lashes

" Fullest, Longest LASH, Fast!!!
The world's most powerful eyelash serum with Emergency Lash RX"
*The size of the Emergency Lash RX is about of an eyeliner*

The applicator is in a form of brush. Almost similar to our liquid eyeliner but slightly thicker
or a lip brush :)

Application is easy.
It's like applying eyeliner.

Prior to using, you need to twist the bottom *You will hear a click*
For first time usage, you need to twist quite alot to prime the Emergency Lash RX.
(I counted, it's about 100 clicks > <)

Then, slowly the gel-like-serum will show at the tip of the brush.
For the next usage, you only need to twist 1-2 clicks for both eyes :D
I would usually apply the remaining serum at my brows.
Let None to Waste! ;)

Draw a line at the base and lift the lashes as you would apply a mascara.
You can apply your mascara after it dries and can be used anytime, morning or night.
Results should start taking place after 5 days and best results is after 6-10 weeks.

Although Kji & Co.'s Emergency Lash Rx is designed for eyelashes, many respondent has claimed to have good results on their eyebrows!
A tube of Kji & Co.'s Emergency Lash Rx ought to last 5-8 weeks if used daily
After achieving desired beautiful lashes, it is recommended to practice maintenance of 2 to 3 times per week.

I will review this product again after a week or so just to update you on my progress
So, stay tune :)
